Author’s Notes

This novel could be said to be about guilt, revenge, and skiing. I think it’s about what happens when some one who is essentially not a bad person gets off scot-free from a bad action. A boy-man kills the family of a woman who . . . perhaps I shouldn’t give too much away, but it is sufficient to say that the relationship formed between these two is more common than on would imagine. I know because I researched it. The novel is set in an imaginary valley in the very real mountains of Colorado. It’s fun building ski areas and imagining mountain passes and small towns changing with the changes in Colorado’s fortunes.
