I’ve just learned about a deaf man, here, who was part of an argument that got out of control. He was accused of starting it and therefore, of assault. He was given no sign language interpreter after his rights were read, to make his case to the police. He was held in the city lockup for weeks because no one informed him about bail or anything else. He would not get an interpreter until his lawyer saw him, which was much later. He never got breakfast because no one told him it was time to eat. I learned that this happens all over the country. I’m not asking for 24 hour interpreter service, but there should be some kind of service available to inform deaf clients before the machinery of the law runs over them.
